Charles-Edouard Le Corbusier (1887-1966), was a French architect. One of the most brilliant and influential of 20th century architects, Le Corbusier was very inventive, as well as being an excellent salesman of his own ideas. He was an early pioneer of ‘mass-production’ housing and town planning, but also built unusual private houses, white and cube-like. His early buildings were smooth glass and metal (such as the UN building in New York), but he later turned to a rougher style, exposing concrete beams still marked by the planks in which the concrete had set.
