How will you describe a Ferry Ferry is a vessel designed to carry passengers, often with their cars, over short stretches of water, such as rivers or narrow sea straits. A ferry can be very small, sometimes consisting of no more than a wooden raft propelled by a pole; or it can be a large ship -- the world’s biggest ferry, Finlandia, since 1967 carries over 300 cars and 1200 passengers across the Baltic Sea, and is powered by gas turbine engines very similar to those fitted to Concorde aircraft.
