Court Officials at Delhi’s Karkardooma Complex Believe It Is Haunted

court officials at delhi's karkardooma complex believe it is haunted

The usual cacophony of lawyers, petitioners, and visitors at the Karkardooma Court Complex has recently given way to hushed conversations about ghosts, spirits, and the supernatural.

Witnesses have spotted a white shadowy figure in various areas of the complex, and video footage has reinforced both claims and fears of paranormal activities.

Raman Sharma, the joint secretary of the Shahdara Bar Council, reported that, following multiple complaints about strange sightings, eight CCTV cameras were installed throughout the ten-story building in East Delhi, including the library and bar offices. “In the morning, we found four computers switched on. CCTV footage showed a white shadowy figure emerging from one of the walls around 11:35 p.m., turning on all the computers simultaneously,” Sharma told IANS. The footage clearly captures the lights activating and the computers turning on unexpectedly.

In another eerie incident, a camera recorded bubbles floating in the air around 1 a.m. in the library, according to Mahesh Sharma, a senior lawyer and former president of the bar council. He also claimed to have seen a ghost in his own chamber.

Lawyers and staff members attribute these spooky occurrences to two tragic incidents: a lawyer who died with his family in last year’s Uttarakhand floods and an electrician who was electrocuted on the premises just weeks ago. A staff member, who wished to remain anonymous, noted, “Many claim to have seen their spirits roaming here on numerous occasions.”

There are several eerie tales. Some lawyers recounted a moment when a cup of tea mysteriously spilled on one of them, while another described seeing a spirit in a colleague’s chamber and several sightings in the library. However, Pankaj Yadav, an employee in the building, reassured that these spirits are “harmless” and “never disturb.”

A team of paranormal investigators inspected the complex a few days ago, and they did not dismiss the possibility of something unusual residing inside the building. “We experienced some abnormal activities; there might be something here,” Rajnish Jha, one of the investigators, shared with IANS.

He explained, “During our investigations, we found that the computers were turning on automatically due to self-programming software, and the bubbles were a result of an electromagnetic field created in the room, which is invisible to the naked eye. This electromagnetic field could stem from the power house supplying electricity to the entire building, located beneath the library.”

Despite this explanation, the lawyers and staff remain uneasy about the spirits that they believe roam the complex, especially at night.
