Family Doctor

This incident occurred once when I was very small. One day my father who was not feeling well asked my mother to call our family doctor and ask for consultation to get immediate relief, as he complained of severe body ache and was having a high fever, so my mother called the doctor.

On the phone she asked the doctor “my husband has a high fever”. Doctor replied “Did you check his temperature?” my mother said.

“It must be around 400 or 500 degrees.” Doctor laughingly said. “Then I’d better call the fire brigade.”

My mother was left standing still and in a hurried way she just dropped the conversation. She realized her mistake and called the doctor again.
