Toothpick
This happened to me when my teenage son who wanted to be a cook and before joining the cookery class was a novice and knew nothing of cooking or baking.
One day I decided it was time for my teenage son to make a cake from scratch. He diligently measured out all the ingredients and followed the directions to the letter.
He poured the batter into the pan, placed it in the preheated oven and turned to me and asked how long it had to bake. I told him to read the recipe card.
He began “Bake at 350 degree for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.” He looked at me in horror and said, “But I forgot to put in the tooth pick!” I had a great laugh at my son’s innocence and gave him the first piece of cake.
