Stories From The New Testament: Jesus calls his Helpers
One day Jesus was teaching many people near a lake. There were so many people that they were almost falling into the water!
Jesus asked a fisherman named Simon to take Him out in his boat a little way into the lake so He could preach from out there.
After Jesus finished speaking, He told Simon and his partners to let down their nets to catch some fish.
When they pulled up their nets they were FULL of fish, even though they had fished all night and caught nothing!
Simon and his partners James and John were amazed and a little scared.
Simon bowed down to Jesus. But Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid, come with me and I will make you fishers of men.”
Later on Jesus asked 9 more men to be His special helpers. Jesus knew these 12 men could help Him “catch people” and teach them about God’s love.
And these twelve special helpers, called the Apostles, left everything and followed Him.
