How Do We Know When We Are Hungry?
How Do We Know When We Are Hungry? Hunger begins when substances like glucose (sugar), minerals, vitamins, and amino acids are missing from the blood. Nerves in the body send hunger signals to the brain.
The brain reacts by making the stomach more active. The food we eat enters our stomach.
There, the stomach churns the food and mixes it with digestive juices. If we don’t eat when we’re hungry, the digesting action may begin anyway.
With no food in the stomach, the digesting action can sometimes get noisy—almost as if the stomach were saying. “When do we eat?”
