False Alarm

One day I was all alone in the house preparing for my exam. My parents had gone to attend a family function.

I had been studying for too long and suddenly felt like sleeping, so I closed all the doors and windows and tried to sleep for a while.

Suddenly I saw something long moving like a snake. I was scared at first, but gathering a little courage, I ran out of the house.

I stayed outside till my parents arrived. Armed with a stick my father entered the bedroom and tried to find the snake.

There was nothing there except a rope, swaying under the fan which was running at a very high speed.
